On the Up & Up
I actually got some sleep last night, so I’m feeling a bit better than yesterday.
I reread the post I made right before bed last night and gods above, I was whiney. I’m still whiney if I’m honest about it, but less irritated at least.
I got up early as per my usual, but didn’t work out because my period is rather heavy today, and I didn’t want to happen upon an ax murder in my leggings. So instead I sat and wrote recipes and worked on website ideas. Content ideas for social media, and hopped into canva to see if I could come up with some templates for future things. I’ve been slowing chugging along through all these ideas and making the switch for instagram and tiktok to business accounts. I didn’t realize how much work that was, is, until I started having to shuffle through.
Around noonish, when it was blazing hot outside, I decided that if I’m going to be sweating this much, I need to be doing something other than lazing about the house like a limp noodle. Yrsa and I went for a quick walk. Quick because it was too hot for her and all her hair, and there was a bundle of clouds looming that made me think rain was coming. The rain did come, after about 45 minutes of clouds and thunder, we got 10 minutes of sprinkling rain. I feel cheated. It hasn’t rained in nearly 3 weeks and it’s so bone dry outside. Now it’s just hot and humid as can be, and I’d like to lodge a complaint if I could, though I’m not sure it would do any good.
Have you seen the new website for The Micro Squad? It’s Brilliant! The vibe is so fun and energetic and bright and cheery. So many workout programs and online gyms I’ve looked at focus on making everything hard as steel, looking harsh and strong, and hyper masculine. Or they’re almost sterile looking, like a hospital, everything is plain, overly simplified and frankly boring. The Micro Squad site is colorful, magical, upbeat, and looks more like you’re signing up for an epic party than a gym membership. The videos and photos are beautiful, the colors are bright and energetic, and the whole site just feels like you’re going to work out with your besties, not trudging to your doom on a weight machine or treadmill. I love it!
I’m so proud of Sam and all the work she’s put in over the last few months. I’ve been able to watch a little from the sidelines and be part of some of the brainstorming and problem solving for various things as they were working on the site, and I’m so freaking happy for how it all came together. Sam and her team did a remarkable job. I’ve had the tab opened in my browser since yesterday, and I spent all morning today showing it off to my husband.
It’s just about dinner time here, and I’m going to throw together something quick that doesn’t heat the house up too bad, because I’m out of charcoal. I’ve been grilling since last weekend because it’s been so freaking hot. Hopefully my kids won’t mind, they’ve been telling me for days how delicious and tasty the grilled food is and that they don’t ever want me to cook any other way.
A few of the recipes I’m churning out this week for Eat Like A Valkyrie are designed for the grill! They were meals I made this week already and were so freaking good I couldn’t help but share them. I hope you dig in!
