Motivated Mush & Mace Improv
That’s the best description for what I’m feeling today.
I woke up wanting to work out… after hitting snooze 3 times. I was tired, and my body didn’t feel heavy or bad, but… mush. Not quite up to my usual antics. I wanted to do Mace, but I didn’t want to get my ass handed to me and feel bad about it. This week we hit phase 2 of Onnit 6 Steel Mace, and I know the intensity will increase. So I took a detour.
I selected five moves that concentrated on upper body and core, and all could be done from the ground, laying down. Since I had such a hard time getting out of bed this morning, it felt like a good idea to just be laying down, but still working my muscles in a good way.
I started with Chest press, my feet planted on the ground, laying on my back, with the mace directly above my chest, for 10 reps. Next I did Toe Taps, with the Mace held in both hands, directly over my chest. I did 10 reps, and then spun the Mace bell to the other side, and did 10 more. Skull Crushers with the Mace came next, and I did 5 before spinning the Mace bell to the other side and doing 5 more reps to give me an even 10. I then did hip thrusts with the Mace balanced across my lap, 10 on each side.
And because I decided that was a good circuit, I did it one more time. My core, arms, and chest were burning by the end of the second round, my glutes were pretty warm too. That’s a workout I’m going to write down and keep for future use, because it was a great way for me to still get a nice workout in without exhausting myself the way that one can in their Luteal phase.
I had my big breakfast right afterwards and have been working on my notes for the Blog upgrades since. It’s going to be such a nice day out today, I’m going to take Yrsa for a walk before it gets hot, and then I’m going to go be a lizard in the sunshine and hope that maybe my legs pick up some color. Ever since Colorado my arms and shoulders have been super dark, but my legs are in desperate need of some sunshine. I might be near reflective at this point.
