Day 59: On the Up & Up
So yesterday, I was crumbling fast, like a sand castle drying up in the wind, I could feel myself breaking down every hour that passed by. My bestie brought me local honey and tea and I immediately whipped up some home remedies and took a super hot shower full of essential oils to help me breathe and relax. Took the time to pour myself a tall glass of elderberry and cranberry juice, and I took myself to bed extra early, and conked out within moments of my head hitting the pillow.
My son woke me up at 7:15am with the sunrise glowing behind the curtains. I wasn’t quite ready to get up, but I took my time, stretching and trying to gauge how I felt. And surprisingly, I felt great. Not an ounce of congestion, no headache, no body aches, I felt awake and well rested. I stood up and stretched some more, twisting and wringing the sleep from my body. My husband, the poor guy, opened one eye and saw me grinning, and asked me, through his stuffy nose, how I felt. “I feel pretty great actually,” and I kissed his forehead and headed to the kitchen to make his coffee, and tea for myself.

I took all my same remedies that I’ve been taking all week, and took another hot steamy shower. I’m still going to rest today, just in case this is some weird fluke and I start feeling crummy later this afternoon. I might do some yoga here in a bit, just to loosen up the stiffness that has seeped into my joints from being relatively inactive this week. My muscles are certainly feeling the lack of movement and feel tense, and kind of like how your butt feels when you’ve been on an airplane for a few hours. I think some yoga is just the answer I need.
It’s sunny outside again, and I might just take Yrsa for that walk she’s been fighting for this week. I’m going to play it by ear and see how I feel after yoga and a hot meal. The temperature is supposed to drop by next weekend, staying in the 50s and low 60s during the day, until about Thursday, when it dips into the 40s and 30s, with a threat of snow on Saturday night. I love the cold bite of winter on my face, and the cozy vibes that seem to bloom in the house with that crispiness outdoors.
Time for Yoga, and some more tea.
