Change of Plans: swapping days

At around 2am this morning, my youngest child decided that sleep is unnecessary and it was party time. We did not agree, and thus began the long sleepless night I had.

In Valkyrie Squad we are encouraged to move the schedule around to fit our lives, and as a Mother, I appreciate that flexibility. The weekend is typically reserved for walking and Mindstilling during Novice Training. Today is supposed to be 20 minutes of body weight training, and I’d love to get it done, but with such little sleep and my right shoulder/neck still bugging me- I have to switch days. Today, I will work on getting in 5-6k steps, and do some shoulder mobility work and hope it helps with this kink in my neck and shoulder. Tomorrow, I will do the body weight training.

It’s important to listen to our bodies, our body speaks to us all the time, and we’ve been trained away from listening to it, or being aware of its cues. Society tells you to work until you’re burnt out, in school and at work, even at home. It’s the last thing we should be doing, ignoring your body’s messages is detrimental to your physical and mental health, as ignored messages compound and become health risks, illnesses, and injuries.

So I’m listening to my body, and heeding the exhaustion and the ache. I am resting, albeit a touch grumpy about it.
