Brake Check

The last 2 or 3 days I’ve been tired and extra sore, and I was okay with it. And then, when I was discussing Valkyrie Squad with my husband’s night he asked me when my last rest day was… and I couldn’t tell him! I couldn’t remember, because it was 7 days ago. I had to go back through my blog posts here and count the days!

Which is why I’ve felt so tired, and so sore. Its not really a bad thing, but I know myself, and I know that I will burn myself out if I keep going like this. So, Active Rest Day it is.

This is great really, because it means I get to spend the day going over the Valkyrie Squad Calendar, watching the form videos, downloading some of the Mind Stilling audio, and stretching- LOTS of stretching. Sounds like a perfect Saturday to me!

So I slept until 7:30a, which I haven’t done in a couple weeks. I drank my hot tea, I snuggled with my youngest, who is the Morning Bird out of all of us. And then she wanted to do yoga with me, so we hit the mat together on the porch. A very slow, stiff sun salutation, and lots of deep breathing through poses like Pidgeon, I drank 2, 32oz bottles of water afterwards. I DID, do a couple core exercises, because I couldn’t help myself. I want it to be an ingrained habit for me to do them as part of my warm up for the day, so I did some Boosted Toe Taps, some Dead bugs, and some Down Dog Floating Knees, to warm up my core and my low back after yoga.

I’m feeling much more limber now, and energized for my restful day. My Morning Bird was full of giggles and “good job mama,” during our Yoga, and we followed it up with a hearty Breakfast Hash and eggs.

Now we’re off to walk Yrsa together, and maybe a trip to the park later this afternoon to meet up with my Mom for some lunch.
