August 15 Workout
I did not want to. I did NOT want to. In fact today I slept late and still didn’t want to open my eyes and do the thing. I whined. I groaned. I was cramping and bloated enough to look pregnant, and had a hundred excuses why I didn’t want to work out today.
“One,: Amren said, raising a slender finger, “you can move up to the House of Wind, train with Cassian in the mornings, and work in the library in the afternoons. You will not be a prisoner. But there will be no one to fly or winnow you down to the city. If you want to venture into the city proper, by all means, go ahead. That is, if you can brave the ten thousand steps down from the House.” page 28, A Court of Silver Flame

I did it anyway.
I did it anyway because I just crushed 3 weeks of workouts, drinking tons of water, starting this blog, and nourishing myself and my ideas, and challenging myself to become.
I told myself a Valkyrie wouldn’t stop for a little cramping and some blood, so I wouldn’t either, because I am after all, training to be one.
I started with 25 squat pulses, did some Around the World Planks for 40 seconds, Side Planks for 30 seconds each side, dead bugs for 25 reps, step back lunges for 20 each side, Goddess Squats for 20 reps (those HURT) and got out my resistance band for some dead lifts, and then finished with some 10lb overhead Marches for 25 on each side.
A solid burn, drenched in sweat again. I was recording for Tiktok, and noticed my form was terrible, even for me, today, so I had to move slower through certain moves. Never sacrifice form for speed, you create the space for injury and compensation in other muscles. Those Goddess Squats have killed my inner thighs, I can feel them shaking every step I take.
Losing my Balance in Lunges
I have every intention of doing some yoga later today, and focusing a lot on hip openers and stretching and relaxing my low back, and maybe throw some hip mobility drills in there too. Everything around my hips holds an ache today, and I know some hip mobility work is the answer. And maybe another cup of cocoa and more reading.
